Component 3: Contingency Emergency Response

  • Contingency Emergency Response Component (CERC)

What is the significance of this to the Marshallese populace within the region?

This component provides a financial contingency accessible by government when triggered by declaration of a national disaster. It will provide cash to support a timely emergency response, and a mechanism for streamlined procurement in emergency situations.

This component aims to enhance the community’s resilience when impacted by a disaster. By providing the government with immediate access to funds, they will be in a better position to procure the necessary resources and tools communities need to respond to emergencies. Communities can gain access to vital resources such as food, water, medical supplies, and other essentials, reducing the risk of displacement and other negative outcomes.
